Power to the people: Patient in command
Dr. Bernard Lown's blog
Posted on November 3, 2012
Dr. Lown is a Nobel winner; I wish I knew him. He blows open the doors to the hype locker where buzz-words are ready to pile on us and convince us that progress is being made in concentrating on patients.
I wanted to quote it all. At least I have to quote this one phrase for educational purposes, and because it is a keystone of my beloved CA primary doctor's practice:
"A doctor typing away into the informational catacomb of a computer is not patient time."
Dr. Lown is fighting the real patient care battle for us.
Let's fight buzzwords, hidden clauses limiting our choices, and disappearing doctor contact. Fight hard.
